Here are some questions and problems that people often encounter when using Jettison.
Before consulting this list or contacting us, please make sure you
are using the latest release of Jettison, version 1.2.
If you have a problem that is not addressed here or feel a question should
be here but isn't, please send mail to support@stclairsoft.com
After I put my Mac to sleep, I hear a loud
"gong" sound - what does that mean?
Jettison makes that sound to let you know that it couldn't eject one of your drives. We chose to use a sound because the lid on your MacBook
may already be closed, so you might not see a regular error message. When you hear this sound, you'll have to open your computer back up and
quit whatever application is using that drive so it can be ejected.
Why can't Jettison eject one of my external
drives?
This happens when an application is accessing a file on your external drive. Because the application will expect the file to still be there when
your Mac wakes back up, Mac OS X won't let Jettison eject the drive. To fix this, you need to determine which application is using the drive and
either close the file(s) that are on the drive or quit the application completely.
Why is Jettison more expensive to buy directly from St. Clair Software than through the Mac App Store?
Unfortunately, our payment processor requires a minimum total sale of $4.95
so the single-copy price of Jettison has to be $4.95. However, it's only $1.95
when you buy Jettison with any other St. Clair Software product. So if you're
buying Default Folder X, App
Tamer or HistoryHound, you can add Jettison for
less than $2.00! A link will automatically appear at the bottom of your cart
when you purchase any of our other products.
